Baked French Toast Casserole with Praline Topping

“Sometimes a girl needed more than Special K with Red Berries in the morning. This qualified as one of those mornings.” ~ Stephanie Julian, By Private Invitation

Breakfast Casserole of French Toast with Praline Topping

New Year’s Eve is just around the corner, and most of us will be ringing in the new year with friends and family. It is a late night with little thought given to New Year’s Day meals.

With a little advance preparation, this breakfast casserole can be ready to pop in the oven. In under an hour, you will have a fabulous breakfast or brunch with little effort.

Baked French Toast with Praline Topping

This recipe, from Paula Deen, has been my go to favorite for a number of years. It always gets rave reviews.
I make a few changes, as follows, to cut back on the fat.

For the egg mixture, I use:

  • 1 ½ cups of half and half
  • 1 ½ cups of 2% milk

For the praline topping, I use:

  • 1 stick of butter instead of 2 sticks

Add some fruit and maybe some bacon and you will be set to go.
