Gingerbread Cookies in a Jar

Gingerbread Cookies

Well, it is time. It’s time to go in the kitchen, gather your ingredients, and make magic.  When you think about what you start with, all that flour, sugar and butter goodness, and the delicious results you end up with, it is wondrous!!  A true Christmas miracle.

Gingerbread cookies are my family’s favorite.  The wafting smell of cinnamon, ginger and cloves brings everyone to the kitchen.  They can’t even wait until they are cool.

These cookies make great gifts too.  You can give them all baked and decorated; or you can bottle your favorite recipe in a jar and share the love that way.

My go to recipe is from Cook’s Illustrated. They get rave reviews as the best gingerbread cookie ever. Be sure to use the freshest spices to get the best flavor.

If you want to give the Gingerbread Cookies in a Jar, combine all the dry ingredients.

Using a wide mouth funnel, pour the ingredients into a quart sized ball jar.

Decorate the jar with an 8” fabric round placed under the screw cap.  Add a gift tag with the recipe on the back of the tag.

If you want to bake them and then share them, tie a few cookies together and add a gift tag.

Whatever way you choose to share these cookies, be sure to keep some for yourself.
