Spiced Apple Two-Bite Tarts

Spicy Apple Tarts with Crème Fraiche

That old expression, “good things come in small packages,” describes these apple tarts.  The tart crust is like pecan shortbread, the apple filling is perfectly spiced and the crème fraiche topping adds a delicious tart tangy flavor.

This dessert can also be made ahead which makes it a great choice when entertaining.

The only down side to these delectable bites is that you will have to make a double batch because you won’t be able to stop eating them.

This recipe can be found in Cooking Light’s Holiday issue.

When making the tart portion of the recipe, a tart tamper will help you fit the dough into the pan and create a nice pocket for the filling.  You could also use a wooden dowel that is 1” in diameter.
